Paths of righteousness…

The Rwanda-Zimbabwe mission trip is fast approaching (August 13-28) and more preparations are being completed. Below is a photo of one of the suitcases being packed at the July 2 team meeting.

As I get ready for this endeavor spiritually and tangibly, I am filled with deep gratitude for the level of support that is being expressed by church members, friends, and family members! This encouragement provides a strong foundation for “doing the right thing”.
“Right” is the first part of the word “righteousness,” the character of the path that we are led on for God’s sake (Psalm 23:3). This path is one that is filled with fitting expressions of justice, kindness, and humility (Micah 6:8).
Helping others in the name of Jesus Christ, whether within one’s immediate family or within the international family, is the moral and decent thing to do, for by God’s grace, God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven.

Rwanda – Zimbabwe Mission Trip update - June 27, 2012

Tickets have been purchased with United and Ethiopian airlines and housing has been secured for August 13-28! The mission team of six persons – Carol Falke, Lee Ellenberger, David Howell, Kira Hydock, Kevin Lloyd, Dan Petrick, Greg Petrick, and Robin Shafer - will be staying at the Urukundo Home in Rwanda. And when the team returns home on August 23, I will continue on to Zimbabwe for three days, staying at the St. Andrews United Methodist Church parsonage with their pastor, the Rev. Joseph Chimberengwa. St. Andrews is a sister-congregation to the church I serve, Park Forest Village United Methodist Church, State College, PA.

Hi! Welcome to this blog...

I have been invited to be a member of a mission team from State College, PA to go to the Urukundo Home for Children, Muhanga District, Rwanda to provide hands-on support for its educational, agricultural, and religious programs. Also, I plan to deliver the Park Forest Village United Methodist congregation’s gifts of funds and a banner of friendship to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Harare, Zimbabwe.

The mission trip is planned for this summer, August 13 through August 28.

I welcome your presence and prayers as preparations are made, more details about the projects are posted, and the days of travel are documented. It should prove to be quite a journey!
